An Important Message From Our CEO

By Bruce Robinson

Dear IMS Community,

It is with a saddened heart that I write to you today, as we, as a community and as a nation, process the events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol yesterday. While we recognize that there is much tension and division in our country, we do know and believe as Christians that violence is never the answer.

Yesterday’s events point to the truth found in the Gospel: “In the world you will have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

This message, along with all the truth found in God’s Word, is what we must try to fill our minds with, as we seek guidance for ourselves and the youngest members of our community during these difficult and confusing times.

In times like these, I thank God that we have our community and our faith to not only cling to, but to also serve as a guide as we process the events of this world and support one another. We know – and thanks to their Catholic education and faith-formation – our students know, that Jesus is always in control, no matter how rough the waters get. He is our source of peace in the midst of trials and tribulations.

Our schools will continue to serve as a safe-haven and beacon of hope for our students, families and community – whether in person or virtually. Our staff will continue to act as a present and caring resource for our students and stand prepared to help answer any questions and concerns that they may bring forward. As a community, we have encouraged opportunities for reflection and shared resources for leaders and teachers to do so in productive ways.

As Catholic educators, it is clear that our work has never been more important. We will continue to move forward our work of demonstrating and teaching love, compassion, equity and the dignity of all human life, while supporting a culture of inclusivity and belonging for all.

Please join me in petitioning Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Patroness of the Americas for her intercession for our nation:

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of Peace! Save the nations and peoples of this continent. Teach everyone, political leaders and citizens, to live in true freedom and to act according to the requirements of justice and respect for human rights, so that peace may thus be established once and for all. To you, O Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, belong all the love, honor, glory and endless praise of your American sons and daughters! – St. John Paul II

Respectfully,

Bruce Robinson, President & CEO
