IMS Quarterly Newsletter: Fall 2019

By IMS Staff

Welcome to the start of a new school year!

I want to extend a special welcome to our new families – we are so happy to have you as part of the IMS family. By this time, I hope that all of our students are getting settled into their classrooms and acquainted with their teachers, who worked very hard over the summer to prepare for the start of the new school year.

As part of our August Professional Development days, all IMS faculty and staff came together to celebrate Mass and to kick off the school year by breaking bread together as an IMS community. They also participated in a network-wide Catechetical Workshop – a day that was intended to assist in the spiritual formation of all IMS teachers and school leaders and to develop their knowledge of the Gospel message and prepare them to lead better prayer in our classrooms.

I am pleased to share that last year we made many great academic strides towards our goal of transforming math instruction and achievement in grades Pre-K-5. With the roll-out of our new math curriculum, Eureka Math, we were able to build teacher expertise in math instruction and deepen leader practice, and as a result, we saw students make learning gains and demonstrate higher achievement in math. We’re excited to offer Eureka Math to our middle school students this year with a similar level of support for teachers and leaders.

I am proud and humbled to be leading an organization of educators and professionals who are so deeply committed to our mission of providing a life-changing education to our students by delivering rigorous academic instruction and instilling Catholic values.

I am looking forward to a great year!
