By IMS Staff

Independence Mission Schools was thrilled to be part of last week’s gala honoring and supporting Catholic Education and, specifically, Ann and Mark Baiada.

Mr. and Mrs. Baiada received the 2017 Distinguished Graduate Award, presented by the Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M Cap., Archbishop of Philadelphia, for their long-time support of Philadelphia Catholic education, including work with the DePaul Catholic School. They thanked the educators who touched their lives, and dedicated their acceptance to those who work in Catholic education today.

Students from several IMS schools were featured throughout the evening. Members of the cooking club at St. Frances Cabrini School shared their talents with guests and offered samples of chocolate chip cookies.

Speaking during the program was St. Martin de Porres’ Lamar Clanton. A member of the CYO State Championship winning basketball team and a participant in the Philadelphia SeaPerch aquatic robotics challenge, Lamar will put his acquired skills to work as a Freshman at Bishop McDevitt High School next year.  He plans on a successful career in the technology sector after high school and college.
