Pre-K through 8th Grade Students at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic School Get the Chance to Meet a Star Athlete with Local Ties

It pays to know people in high places, especially when you call them family… Corey J. Clement is a running back with the Philadelphia Eagles who, as it turns out, has many ties to St. Raymond of Penafort, an Independence Mission School that serves the Mt. Airy/West Oak Lane community. His aunt is a teacher in the CARES afterschool program, his father is a graduate of the school and his grandfather is a member of the vibrant parish and sings in the choir.

Corey recently granted his aunt’s request to surprise the students in a school assembly, much to the delight of the unsuspecting student body who had absolutely no clue that an NFL champion player was coming to visit them. Luckily Fox 29 was there to catch their reaction!

Corey addressed the students and faculty with inspiring words, answered their questions, shook hands and took pictures with each class in an event that will surely go down in history as one of the most memorable that this Philadelphia Catholic school has seen!
